On this website of the German Aerospace Center (DLR), you will be able to explore our major future aircraft digitally and in detail*. The aircraft concepts in this Digital Hangar are the work of several DLR institutes, sometimes in collaboration with external partners.
With our 53 institutes and facilities, we have the unique capability to explore the aviation system comprehensively and in depth, with all competencies on board to come up with new concepts of such aircraft. The digital methods developed by our institute, the DLR Institute of System Architectures in Aeronautics, allow for us to link all disciplines and expert tools, thus create a digital thread. In this way, we can model and assess the aviation system in its entirety. The configurations from the DLR-project EXACT hosted in the Digital Hangar reflect this. We thrive to make aviation climate-compatible while being competitive at the same time. Both of it as fast as possible.
This requires revolutionary technologies and developments. Digital methods are key to speed up the innovation cycle. But it is also crucial for research, academia, industry, small- and medium sized enterprises and start-ups to collaborate.
This is our motivation to share our research concepts and data with you here in the Digital Hangar.
Let’s architect the future aviation together! #ArchitectingAviation
